Vision Correction Procedures
At the Barrie LASIK Centre we have many options to correct your unique vision. If you are not a candidate for LASIK, there are other procedures available to suit your individual needs. Dr. Tayfour will discuss your options with you during your consultation.
LASIK (Laser-Assisted-In-Situ-Karatomileusis)
Implantable Contact Lens (Collamer ICL)
Astigmatic Keratotomy (AK)
Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK)
Laser Thermal Keratoplasty (LTK)
Clear Lens Lensectomy
Intacs (Corneal Inserts)

LASIK (Laser-Assisted-In-Situ Keratomileusis)
is currently the most common type of laser vision correction procedure. It is an extremely effective outpatient procedure that is suitable for low, moderate, and higher prescriptions.

A hinged corneal flap is created by the Intralase laser or an instrument called a microkeratome. The flap is lifted to expose the inner layer of the cornea. The computer guided and very precise excimer laser gently reshapes the cornea using a cool ultraviolet beam of light. The flap is then replaced and heals rapidly. Because the laser is applied below the corneal surface, the healing response is minimal and the results of the treatment are more predictable.
